Reading Report # 4
In the book “Stem Cell Research” which was published by University of Notre Dame in 2003, the author, Nancy E. Snow reported about ethical issue in stem cell research. The author stated that the central question in the debates over stem cell research is how to treat embryonic stem cell research, which may lead to lifesaving (Snow, 2003, p.77) treatments, but which requires the destruction of embryos. The author reported that Karen Lebacqz argued for the moral acceptability of stem cell research on the basis of standard of respect for humans. Nancy E. Snow explained that according to Karen Lebacqz who stated that there are two main ethical issues arise in debates such as whether it is morally permissible to destroy blastocysts and whether it is permissible to create blastocysts for research purpose. According to Lebacqz who claimed that the fundamental principle at stake (Snow, 2003, p.80) in the stem cell research debate is not the prohibition against killing, but respect for persons. However, the author indicated that Lisa Sowle Cahill, the scientist of stem cell research, pointed out that people will not have access to the potential benefits in stem cell therapy because stem cell therapy will be exotic as well as expensive to millions of people worldwide. Moreover, Nancy E. Snow explained that Cahill concerned with another problem such as basic health care, lack of food and clear drinking water. Finally, Cahill alleged that if therapies are developed from stem cells derived from embryos, the therapies are unlikely to provide good tissue matches for variety of population.

Hi~ Mirjan.
In this summary, your author is going to come up with conclusion part because the author already explaind all kinds of stemcells which want to include in books then
talking about it stll has lots of benefits, but by opponets who are stronly against to lean on the religion. I also agree with some kinds of stemcell used for incurable disease, but the embryonuc stem cell reasearch is not which might you want to discuss in your discussion part of research paper.
Hii Mirjan
well as you discussed your summary in class..I agreed with this topic a 100% ..yes i know it's not accepted morally but if you can save a life so i don't care about the other things..well i can not say that we do not have to listen to the religion point of view but as i said before "if you can save a life" and live like a normal person without pain and without the constant threats of death of a certain illness so yes i'm with this idea and will always support it till they prove that it could hurt the human beings..
Hi Mr.Mirjan;
It's really interesting for me that everyone thinks astronomy and cosmology is related to my field of study. My major is Aerospace engineering, which is completely different from astronomy and cosmology. Aerospace engineering is related to airplanes, space crafts, satelites, remote controlers etc. In fact, there is no common subject or course between these two field of study. They are completely different.
By the way, I'm really interested in your summaries. Belive me, I think you do your job really seriously and professionally, which make your summaries the most interesting ones in this class.
