Summary # 1 "Stem Cell Research" (page 1-20)
In the book “Stem Cell Research” which was published by University of Notre Dame Press , the author, Nancy E. Snow reported about dilemma between science cell research (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.1) and ethical policy (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.1). The author claimed that scientists suppose that stem cell research (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.2) will bring results in treatment of diabetes (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.2), Alzheimer’s (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.2), Parkinson’s (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.2) and many other cureless diseases. However, author also indicated that extraction of stem cells cause ethical (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.2) and religious (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.2) opposition. E. Snow noted that there are many different sources of stem cells, and they can be found at different stages of formation of human being. Nancy E. Snow reported that proponents presume by researching stem cells scientists can find many advantages for medical cure. In addition, the author maintained that stem cells are used for growing new organs, bones, skin for patients; however, there is always a risk of transplant (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.18) rejection for patients. Moreover, Snow states that according to Kevin T. Fitzgerald who supported human embryo research because of a large numbers of benefits from it (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.10). On the other hand, the author states that opponents of stem cell research consider that if scientists take aborted fetal tissue (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.5) for experiments, it will cause raising misbirth. The author mentioned that according to David A. Prentice who claimed that using embryos (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.9) for research purpose raised many debates about respect for human life. Nancy Snow explained that nowadays because of ethical arguments, scientists try to find alternatives for embryonic stem cells. The author proposed that stem cell use may cause some damages for immune system, tumor formation (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.18), and transplant rejection (Nancy E. Snow, 2003, p.18).

Hi~ I'm Jee-won. In your summary, most interesting point was stem cell research cause abortion, making die featus, but I think nowadays especially young people don't care about this problem because people become more or less desencitize and expect more innovative and technological effect. however, by and large, this point is very contravalsal issue to the two differnt parts, scient and religious.
hi mirjan!! im alejandro. i think you have a great topic!! i learned more about this issue thx to your summary. even thouhg many people think is morally and ethically wrong to experiment whit stem cell,im pretty sure that if scientifics do more reseachr about stem cell, human life will be improve in a big deal, and the life expentacy will be enourmeous increased as well. However, i think that scientifics should be adopt any kind of regulation in order to do not do anything that could be considered as an inhuman action.
The topic is undoubtedly attractive. I read about stem cells research before and it is curious to some extent. Despite the fact that the summary did not provide a peace of new information for me, I will certainly keep on reading your blog.
P.S.
The only thing which made me baffled is your extracitation. As for me it is a bit difficult to read in such a form.
Kind Regards.
